Apple Bodemer, MD

After finishing Medical School and Dermatology Residency at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Bodemer completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. She was the first Dermatologist to be board-certified in Dermatology and Integrative Medicine and currently is the only Dermatologist to serve on the Integrative Medicine Board. She has authored academic texts and curriculum and has spoken widely on various topics related to Integrative Dermatology. She has always been drawn to exploring how lifestyle choices impact skin health and disease and feels that the most powerful role a physician can play is as an educator and guide, empowering people to get healthy and stay healthy.

Cindy Chambers, MD MAS MPH

Dr. Cindy Chambers is a board-certified dermatologist and practices at Pacific Skin Institute. She has a background in psychiatry and completed her dermatology residency training at the University of California, Davis where she served as a chief resident during her final year. Apart from her medical training, she has a background in epidemiology and public health and is a current fellow in the Integrative Medicine Fellowship through the University of Arizona.

Danielle Tartar, MD PhD

Dr. Tartar is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She completed her MD and PhD at the University of Missouri, where her research focused on CD4+ T cells in autoimmune disease. She then completed her intern year at the University of Chicago before moving to Sacramento to complete her dermatology residency at the University of California, Davis, where she served as Chief Resident in 2016-17. During residency, Dr. Tartar stayed active in research, studying the immunology of wound healing.


Her background in immunology has led her to cultivate an interest in complex medical dermatology and rheumatology-dermatology, and she is currently on faculty as both the Co-Director of Inpatient Dermatology and Co-Director of the Autoimmune Connective Tissue Disease Clinic. Dr. Tartar is also very involved in resident education at UC Davis, where she serves as the Associate Program Director. In her free time, she spends time with her two Siberian Huskies, Thor and Loki.

Hadar Lev-Tov, MD MAS

Dr. Hadar Lev-Tov is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive research experience. Throughout his training and daily practice, he has always believed that the key to achieving health for his patients is grounded in his ability to truly connect to their experiences and perceptions of health and well-being. Maimonides, one of the greatest philosophers, realized that human knowledge, often represented as “science,” is limited. As a physician, he feels he would be a fool to believe all is known. Maimonides said, “The physician should not treat the disease but the patient who is suffering from it.” LearnSkin is his journey to a better understanding of his patients.

Jason Ezra Hawkes, MD MS FAAD

Dr. Jason Hawkes is a board-certified dermatologist and Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of California Davis. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. During medical school, he was selected for a one-year research fellowship year at the National Institutes of Health as part of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholars Program. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Washington/Boise VA Medical Center. He returned to the University of Utah School of Medicine for his dermatology residency training and graduated from the Program’s 2+2 Translational Research Track. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Investigation at the Rockefeller University in New York City, where he was also the Chief Clinical Scholar and member of the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology. Dr. Hawkes was also a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Dermatology in the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he saw patients and taught residents, fellows, and physician assistants.

Jennifer Ornelas, MD

Dr. Jennifer Ornelas is a board-certified dermatologist and pediatric dermatology fellow in the Department of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco. She conducted translational research investigating botanical extracts as novel treatment options for acne and earned a master’s in clinical and translational research. She is passionate about working with children and hopes to sub-specialize in pediatric dermatology. She is committed to serving the medically underserved populations of the region and hopes to provide culturally competent specialist care in her future practice.

Peter Lio, MD

Dr. Peter Lio is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed his internship in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, and his Dermatology training at Harvard, where he served as Chief Resident in Dermatology. Dr. Lio is the founding director of the Chicago Integrative Eczema Center and has spoken nationally and internationally about atopic dermatitis and alternative medicine.

Raja Sivamani, MD MS AP

Dr. Raja Sivamani is a board-certified dermatologist and practices as an integrative dermatologist at Pacific Skin Institute. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology at the University of California, Davis, and Director of Clinical Research and the Clinical Trials Unit. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the California State University, Sacramento, and an Associate Professor of Dermatology at California Northstate University, College of Medicine. He engages in clinical practice as well as both clinical and translational research that integrates bioengineering, nutrition, cosmetics, and skin biology. 

With training in Allopathic and Ayurvedic medicine, he takes an integrative approach to his patients and his research. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed research manuscripts, 10 textbook chapters, and a textbook entitled Cosmeceuticals and Active Cosmetics, 3rd Edition, with a passion for expanding the evidence and boundaries of integrative medicine for skin care.

Vivian Shi, MD

Vivian Shi is an Associate Professor of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), where she directs the Eczema Clinic and Hidradenitis Suppurativa Clinic.

Dr. Shi received her undergraduate degree in physiological sciences from UCLA and subsequently spent a year researching gene regulation in pathogenic bacteria in the department of microbiology at UCLA. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. During that time, she also completed a fellowship in the Skin Immunology Laboratory. She was an integral part of the team characterizing the pathophysiology of atopic dermatitis. She then completed her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago – NorthShore Health System, followed by a dermatology residency at the University of California,
Davis, where she also served as chief resident.

Dr. Shi’s research and clinical interests are in complex inflammatory skin conditions (such atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and psoriasis), skin barrier repair, transepidermal drug delivery, and integrative dermatology. She has served as the principal investigator for numerous
industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical and translational studies. She has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and is the editor for two reference dermatology textbooks on atopic dermatitis and hidradenitis suppurativa. She is on the Board of Directors for the
Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation, the advisory board of the National Eczema Association, and is a member of the International Eczema Council.

Keira Barr, MD

Dr. Keira Barr is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist.  Blending science with soul, Dr. Barr turns conventional methodologies on their heads so midlife women can feel comfortable in their bodies and love the skin they’re in.
 
Dr. Barr is a prominent leader in women’s medicine – creating a bridge between hormones, skin and mind-body medicine to optimize women’s mid-life experience.
